The Show
Provence Rose
Provence Rose was featured in BC Govt Liquor Stores, many of the labels are still to be found.
Provence, the beautiful region that sits at the scenic crossroads of southern France, the Italian Alps, and the Mediterranean, has long been an area of historical import and distinct culture.
Above all else, Provence is known as a producer of some of the finest food and wine France has to offer, with a cuisine that emphasizes healthful ingredients like olive oil, garlic, fresh vegetables, and bountiful Mediterranean seafood.
The other famous product of Provence is Rose.
Viktorija Todorovska is an author and is a Chicago-based wine educator.
Francois Millo is the general director of the Provence Wine Council, an acclaimed French wine expert and photographer. He was born and raised in Provence, and has worked and travelled through the world.
Together they have released a book called Provence Food and Wine. The Art of Living.
Who better to walk us through the wonderful complexities of Provence’s gift to the wine World.
We talk colour, winemaking process, food pairings and the question that always comes up “what is it with guys and Rose?”

She’s going to return later with patio wines..sippers for the backyard..kitchen..pool..heck a bench will do.
But with the weather that we’ve been getting..its full on BBQ season.
Whether its seafood, meat or veggies, everybody is firing up the BBQ.
But with those selections comes sauces, charcoal and seasoning.
So it takes a serious wine to complement your choices.
Enjoy Daenna’s choices..she’s tested and tasted them all.
The original list can be found at www.winediva.ca

Jon Favreau. Actor. Director. Chef.

Jon has released a very charming film called CHEF.
It’s about a chef who loses his high profile restaurant job in LA, travels across the USA and in Miami starts up a food truck in an effort to reclaim his creative promise, while piecing together his estranged family. From that point on it becomes a road film, driven by food and music.
Not a bad thing.
We know Jon from his work in the Indy film Swingers plus Elf and both Iron Man blockbusters but this small film allows him to touch on themes lost in the larger films.
Love, trust, family. Food.
Basic stuff.
We find Jon on the phone from Los Angeles.
Apologies for the phone connection. We cleaned it up as best we could.

The Benjamin Bridge vineyards are located in the heart of the Gaspereau Valley on the Bay of Fundy, where the cool climate bears an uncanny affinity with the Champagne region of France. Their experienced winemakers work in collaboration with international experts to produce world-class Méthode Classique sparkling wines and limited edition luxury wines.
The sparkling wines display the hallmarks of classic prestige cuvées from Champagne, but with a Nova Scotia signature. “They are, without question, the best sparkling wines I have tasted in Canada,” says Tony Aspler, Canada’s most renowned wine authority. Their collection of wines including perennial sell-out Nova 7, together with our sparkling wine program, have helped raise the profile of Nova Scotia terroir and its winemaking in Canada and internationally.

Brewery and the Beast. Scott Gurney – founder.

Last year – on Father’s Day no less – Victoria’s Brewery and the Beast conquered Vancouver. Chefs will create dishes using the highest possible quality ingredients for the conscientious consumer. Meats featured will be hormone and antibiotic free, ethically raised, and sourced from farms on Vancouver Island, the Lower Mainland, the Fraser Valley, and select farms in Northern Alberta.

Accompanying the menu du jour will be refreshments provided by The Phillips Brewing Company, Left Field Cider, and Mission Hill Family Estate Winery. Homemade sodas, specialty coffee, and traditional iced teas will also be served to wash down the savoury, sweet, and smoky flavours. Bringing the Meat are Big Lou’s, Memphis Blues, Hawksworth, Market, Araxi, Campagnolo, Nuba, Peckinpaw, Pidgin, Edible Canada, Espana, The Fat Badger, Tap and Barrel, Forage, West, Wildebeest, Whole Foods Market and many more. Date: Sunday July 27th, 2014
Time: 1:00pm – 4:00pm (Rain or shine) Venue: Concord Pacific Lot – 88 Pacific Boulevard Victoria’s event is Sunday Sept 21st. http://breweryandthebeast.com/ [divider] Chef Ned Bell – Chefs for Oceans Tour of Canada. Chef Ned Bell On Canada Day, Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver and YEW seafood + bar Executive Chef Ned Bell set off on a challenge that could forever change the future of sustainable seafood in Canada.
Last year the always ambitious and greatly passionate Chef Bell launched Chefs for Oceans and cycled across Vancouver Island in support of healthy lakes, rivers and oceans; this year he’s taking on the entire country.
On July 1, 2014, Chef Bell headed out from St. John’s Newfoundland on the journey of his life as he plans to cycle across Canada, all in the name of sustainable seafood. This is what Ned wants us to be aware of …

Lisa Ahier from Sobo in Tofino. The Sobo Cookbook includes more than 100 recipes from the Tofino restaurant that got its start as a food truck. Sobo is short for Sophisticated Bohemian and its food is wildly popular with surfers and beach bums. Sobo is ground zero with food and travel writers from across North America, making the pilgrimage to what is literally the end of the road.
Sobo has since become a destination restaurant, having outgrown its food truck beginnings, with visitors making the pilgrimage to the west coast of Vancouver Island just to taste chef Lisa Ahier’s cooking–which is, to use Tofino slang, simply “killer”.
The restaurant’s menu focuses on locally-sourced, seasonally-inspired ingredients from family-owned producers.
The dishes are shaped by Lisa’s Tex Mex and Southwestern culinary roots, and her experience gained across several US states, including her stint as executive chef of Cibolo Creek Ranch in Texas. The Sobo Cookbook. Recipes from the Tofino Restaurant at the end of the Canadian Road includes the restaurant’s all-time favourite recipes–recipes that have fed surfers, hungry locals, curious visitors and die-hard foodies alike.
Andrew Morrison, from Scout Magazine, co-wrote the book with Lisa. Together they’ve created one of the best cookbooks of the year.sobo.ca

Mulligan Stew July 12th Jim & Devin Cuddy, Ed Robertson
hello
North of Tofino off the coast of Vancouver Island lies a sensational old growth destination.
Clayoquot Wilderness Resort.
At its basic it’s like camping in Central Park under high tents except the rooms and food and service comes from The Plaza Hotel.
Because the managing Director is John Caton and because he was the original manager of Blue Rodeo it’s not surprising to find Jim Cuddy, his son Devin and Ed Robertson from Barenaked Ladies all sharing the stage outside the main resort.
Wines supplied by Dave Mathews who’s on tour and unavailable.
I loved talking to both Cuddys together. It was great fun.
Ed Robertson from BNL brought humour and insight to our talk.
Devin has a great second album Kitchen Knife ready for release.
Jim’s coming to Edmonton folk fest with Blue Rodeo.
They’ll play all of 5 days in July.
Hope u like it.
FYI.
The show features a Moby sandwich
He starts and closes the show. Same track different versions.

Red Robinson Interview
hello
Mulligan Stew July 5th-Dj Red Robinson Interview
hello
VANCOUVER’S ROCK ‘N’ ROLL MUSICAL
Arts club classic Vancouver, 1957. Five teens come of age while DJ Red Robinson plays the biggest hits of the time—from the raucous “Great Balls of Fire” and “Jailhouse Rock” to ballads like “Diana” and “Crying.” This infectious musical captures the excitement and innocence of the city’s burgeoning rock ‘n’ roll scene.
About Red
Red Robinson’s roots go back to the beginning of Rock’n’Roll.
Red was spinning the hits on Vancouver’s CJOR while still in high school in 1954. He was the first DJ to play rock’n’roll music on a regular basis in Canada. In 1957, Red jumped to Vancouver Top 40 giantCKWX, where he met Buddy Holly and Elvis and was MC for Elvis’ appearance.
In 1964, Red introduced The Beatles on the same stage where Elvis appeared seven years earlier. I couldn’t wait to talk to Red about his life and times with legends such as:
Wynonie Harris , Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry, Ritchie Valens, Bobby Darin, Little Richard, Fats Domino, Elvis, Buddy Holly, Sam Cooke, James Brown, Ray Charles, The Every Brothers.
His web site is : http://redrobinson.com/
And we play them all..in the second hour..

THE SHOW
We’re heading South from Vancouver to The Willamette Valley and another wine hook up with
Hayley Hamilton from Dallas Uncorked.
Hayey Hamilton Dallas Uncorked, Hayley Hamilton Cogill, CSW, Dallas Uncorked’s Founder and President, travels the world looking for a completely perfect glass of wine.
Originally a self-taught connoisseur, Hayley’s extensive research on wineries, varietals, food pairings and the art of tasting benefits members in developing a well-rounded knowledge of the subject, always with a particular emphasis on smaller, boutique, often family owned wineries. In 2005 she continued her wine education by completing the International Sommelier Guild Levels 1 & 2 Certifications, and became a Certified Specialist of Wine 2013; Hayley is also a member of the Society of Wine Educators.
In July of 2010 she left the corporate world as Vice President for The Nielsen Company to focus solely on the world of wine, food and travel, writing for the city magazine of Dallas, TX, D Magazine; Lifestyle blog, Pink Memo in New York, Los Angeles and Dallas, and freelancing on wine and travel for various other publications. Additionally Hayley has recently begun contributing to The Broadcast on KTXD-TV in Dallas with a weekly wine and spirits elevision segment.
Writing about and enjoying the celebration of entertaining with food and wine is much of what guides Hayley’s everyday life. The constant hostess, and she can often be found in her kitchen creating recipes and cooking dinner parties, which she writes about on the Dallas Uncorked blog, Red Wine With Breakfast. When she isn’t busy with this she serves as a guest judge for wine and cooking contests, hosting educational and fun wine tasting events for both private companies and for friends, and is a private chef cooking dinner parties for casual gatherings and company events. She also recently married her love, Gary Cogill. Though she has traveled to and tasted some of the best wine made in the world, she is still seeking that completely perfect glass….if it can be found is a mystery, but the never-ending adventure of looking and tasting is well worth the hunt.

EIEIO (old McDonald had a farm… )
In early 1995, Jay McDonald purchased then converted the historic bank building in downtown Carlton, Oregon into the Tasting Room in Carlton. The Tasting Room was one of the first venues for consumers to taste the best wines from the then emerging Willamette Valley. That fall, one of the wineries being represented at The Tasting Room asked if Jay would be interested in working harvest and potentially creating his own label. The result was the one vintage, tongue and cheek, Bourgeois label.
Over the course of the next five years Jay continued to pursue harvest and bottling opportunities presented by various wineries, creating EIEIO & Company in 1998. Jay McDonald being “EIEIO” and the “& Company” being the wineries and vineyards that were supplying Jay with wine and fruit. These previous négociant relationships allowed Jay to experiment with various styles and determine HIS style for the EIEIO brand going forward. In 2003 EIEIO & Company transitioned from négociant to a fully bonded winery with Jay McDonald now responsible for all aspects of winemaking.
Looking for a great wine destination?? Make tracks for Carlton, Oregon. A true wine town..filled with many store front tasting rooms.
