Mulligan Stew August 25th

hello

If you went to the Bonnie Raitt closer concert at Edmonton Folk Fest this year, you would have noticed her keyboard player Mike Finnegan
Bonnie gave him his own spotlight and he sang like a mockingbird.
I’ve been playing Mike for years now and am so happy he’s still around and finally getting the break he earned years ago,
And THATS why he starts off Saturdays Stew.
On Vinyl my friends.
Lyle Lovett sings a Holiday song – well, it mentions the Holidays. Girl with the Holiday Smile which begins
“I met a hooker at the grocery store”
Brand new Van Morrison music  Born to Sing
Tom Waits

New Whitehorse. Radiator Blues
 New Scenic Route, Royal Wood
Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) shows up with a down and dirty  version of Peter Greens Oh Well on the Tribute to Fleetwood Mac.  I’m happy to see that the producers we aware there were two different Fleetwood Macs. The first was by far the best.

LIVE tracks from
U2
Bruce Cockburn
 Allman Brothers
Blue Rodeo
Tom Petty
Otis redding
Jackson Browne and David Lindley.  This is a very powerful LP.  Recorded on a tour of Spain in 2006.  The band consisted of some of Spains greatest players.
Check out the remarkable version of Late for the Sky.
Etta James – doing Jimmy Reeds Baby what you want me to do.
Show closes with one of the best singles ever recorded…Mongo SantaMaria  Watermelon Man.

Tasting Room Radio- BC

hello

Our focus this week is on Vancouver Island. Specifically The 6th annual BC Shellfish Festival in Comox-Courtney and on the iconic Hastings House, Salt Spring Island.   Over 200 guests were treated to a six-course chef designed seafood menu paired with a BC wine. Best of all the festival was held in the oyster growing capital of Canada, near the Comox Valley. The meal is served outdoors, along the banks of Baynes Sound. This year’s dinner brought in chefs from near and far who all share a passion for preparing sustainably raised shellfish and to offer guests a truly authentic taste of the West Coast.

Mulligan Stew July 21st

hello

Saturday’s mulligan stew has several guests.

Two we expected…
Amy Hill from Interstellar Rodeo…she fills us in on who’s playing and how next weekend works.
One of the bands headlining is Blue Rodeo. Jim Cuddy describes the ever wild summer tours they do. Plus he’s also touring as The Jim Cuddy Band, which is how he’ll play at Edmonton Folk Fest this year.
And the special “what do we have here” guest is Edmontons Michael Rault.
He brings with his local dates and a new Release called Whirlpool!!
We’ll play a Staple Singers cover possibly for the first time anywhere.
Did I tell you the music playlist is posted and would go well with BBQ and a big honkin RED.
Enjoy
