Congratulations on completing the Fall Fundraising Marathon.
After all that TALKING it’s time for donor payback.
2 hours of music. Wall to wall.
At the top of hour two it’s our first Live at the Fillmore feature.
The music played by bands and artists at the Fillmore East and West in the late 60’s and throughout the 70’s is still the finest showcase of music that defined a generation.
Lead by the wildly outrageous Bill Graham The Fillmores in San Francisco and NY City were the very best showcase any band could get.
2 and at times 3 artists sharing the stage – one after the other.
They did 2 shows on Friday and Saturday nights. Bands could always bring guests on stage. Sometimes it was the same bands they were sharing the stage with.
Frank Zappa invited John and Yoko.
Triple bills were normal.
The Mothers of Invention, Buddy Miles Express and Chicago played on the same night.
Pairings like The Kinks, & Bonzo Dog! Ike & Tina Turner with Fats Domino opening.
Most nights were recorded which is why there are many albums called Live at the Fillmore.
Top of an hour two on this Mulligan Stew – in one live set is
