As host and producer of the weekly radio show Tasting Room Radio and Co-Host of HollywoodandVinesTV with Jason Priestley, Terry David Mulligan spent the past 10 years travelling the World of Wine. He lived 5 years right on the Naramata Bench in BC’s Okanagan Valley just so he could teach himself all about winemaking from the terroir up. Terry also knows exactly where to find the best chefs and kitchen experiences in the area, and promises great food to go with those wines.

NARAMATA BENCH
Naramata Bench, located just minutes from Penticton, BC, features a number of award-winning wineries nestled along a fourteen kilometre winding country road overlooking Okanagan Lake. Over 100 years ago this region was a major fruit growing area and more recently it has become home to world class viticulturists growing grapes that are the basis for the popularity of Naramata Bench wines.

KETTLE VALLEY
What started out as a hobby for friends Bob Ferguson and Tim Watts became an obsession when they were granted the third winery licence on the Naramata Bench. Their first blocks of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay set the tone for the Kettle Valley style of intense full bodied reds and whites, and they constantly challenge the assumptions about what cannot thrive on the versatile Naramata terroir. Think of this stop on the TDM Reserva tour as tasting, touring and talking.
POPLAR GROVE
Founded in 1993, Poplar Grove was one of the original 5 wineries on the Naramata Bench. Ian Sutherland built his reputation starting with just 2 and a half acres, and his 1995 Cabernet Franc quickly established Poplar Grove on the world scene. Now including over 110 acres of prime property, the focus has expanded to include Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Merlot and a signature blend called The Legacy. Since transplanting themselves from the Australian wine industry, Jeff and Niva Martin have put their small “cult” winery on the world map by winning major awards. In 2011, La Frenz won the most gold medals of any winery at the All Canadian Wine Championships and the Northwest Wine Summit. Jeff looks after the vineyards, Niva runs the tasting room – and they promise a tasting to remember that includes tasting your way through much of the portfolio.
