Terry David Mulligan joins Blues lifer Robert Finley in the media tent at the Edmonton Folk Festival.
Robert spins the stories of how he went from losing most of his sight to becoming the hot new voice in the blues.
Inviting himself to do a cold walk-on at the Blues Festival in St Helena. It’s quite a story he tells. The crowd loved him and that set things in motion.
The Music Maker Relief Foundation, a non-profit blues support system, heard him busking in the streets and offered to help.
Finley released his first album “Age Don’t Mean a Thing” in 2016.
Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys heard him and they started recording together – with Dan as producer.
They’ve now done 4 albums together. Each one bigger and better.
The latest album is Black Bayou.
No more busking for Robert Finley.
He’s 70 years old and an overnight sensation!!

The second guest is our good friend and ever-growing artist, Leeroy Stagger!
His new album is 3AM Revelations. Just out Friday.
“Most of these songs were composed in the wee hours of a new day. The witching hours, you could call them. Where my mind is active and there’s a peace and spirit I embrace in the quiet of life.”
That liminal space is exactly what Leeroy would call his 3 AM Revelations—and there could be no better title for his 13th full recording.
Recorded in Leeroy’s new Victoria home studio made of “beautiful rough-cut wood”—we hear gratitude, struggle, rebel-rousing, balladry, compassion, and humour.
“This is a record of the human spirit. Of suffering and joy. Of heroes and everyday stories. And of addiction and redemption.”
3 AM Revelations is the result of what Leeroy calls his “third attempt” at making this record, meaning his listeners can look forward to two more collections in the can.
Just a heads-up. I’ve been listening to the album for a couple of weeks. It really GROWS on you. Its got bangers and ballads. Leeroy has given us another gift – of songs and inner voices.
Best of all – you can see him and hear these songs in person
